CHATTANOOGA TIMES TO FLEXOGRAPHICALLY PRINT
SPECIAL EDITION NEWSPAPER FOR THE PHOENIX CHALLENGE
Charlotte, NC – July 26, 2004. Frank Anthony, Vice President of Operations for the award winning Chattanooga Times Free Press, announced recently that the “Times” will publish a quarterly special edition newspaper for the International Phoenix Challenge High School Flexo Competition. He said, “The newspaper will be in printed flexographically in full color and will feature the various programs and activities of students and volunteers involved with this popular annual competition, which is held annually at the Harper National Flexographic Center on the Harper Campus at Central Piedmont Community College. We are pleased to be able to assist in the efforts of the many industry volunteers who work so hard to make this a success for the students and for the flexographic industry”.
According to Bettylyn Krafft, volunteer chairman of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation, “This will be another excellent example for our students, of the many career opportunities available in the flexographic printing market. We are thrilled with Frank Anthony’s offer and very grateful for his and the Chattanooga Times unique contribution to this extremely worthwhile educational effort.” She added that the special newspaper will also carry flexo industry oriented advertisements for a nominal fee. All funds raised through the advertising campaign will be used to support the costs of students participating in the Phoenix Challenge.
Anthony is also very much involved in sharing his knowledge and the benefits of flexography through his work as chairman of the Board of Directors of The Flexographic Technical Association, and through seminars he presents for other newspapers who have expressed an interest in learning more about the flexographic process. Under his leadership the Chattanooga Times Free Press has won numerous awards for excellence in printing.
